Sophie was found tied in a junkyard five years ago.  She had been overbred and was showing the signs of her abuse -- she was terrified, in bad physical condition, and emaciated.  The McCarthy family from Buffalo flew to Maryland to adopt Sophie, renting a car to drive her to her new home with them.   She now lives with 4 other bullmastiffs and a Boston terrier puppy. Her family, human and canine, loves her dearly and are so thankful to have her. Over the years, Sophie has gotten grayer in the muzzle, and the McCarthys were told once by a veterinarian that Sophie's time had come, but that was three years ago and Sophie is still going strong. Her family reports that she's doing just great -- just a little chubby but that is to make up for her being just skin and bones earlier in her life.
