Dobby came to us October 10, 2005 from Al and Loretta Pacanowski in PA.  He had been hit by a car and was in a shelter on Long Island, one day away from euthanasia, when Rescue got the call.  This poor guy was the most pathetic dog they had ever fostered. He was underweight, full of worms, had oozing bleeding sores, missing fur due to mange, and had what looked like a continual flow of butterscotch pudding draining out of his infected eyes. What a mess! They named him "Dobby", after the bald, pathetic creature in Harry Potter.  What struck them most about Dobby, however, was his big, loving heart, which more than made up for his mischievous side.....like when he ate through a golf bag to get at the golf balls.  The Pacs knew he would need a special family to take him into their home, which he was just lucky enough to get!

We had just lost our beloved Tyson to cancer. We soon determined that the hole left in our hearts, souls, and lives was more than we could stand. Sir Dobby stepped right in and filled that hole to overflowing. We are eternally grateful to the Pacs for taking a chance and sending their boy to us since we live so far from them. I know he left a hole in their lives as well – he has that quality about him. His personality and presence are so amazing – we feel blessed to walk this part of our life journeys together with him. A hug from Dobby will always make you feel better, no matter how bad your day has been. We like to say his full name is Sir Dobby Ilean Pacanowski Moulton, Lord of Wales, Ambassador to Rescue. He has been to multiple home visits with me representing ABA Rescue. Always the gentleman, always loving the attention. Everyone falls in love with him. One of his favorite things to do is to take Mom for her walk in the neighborhood, schmoozing his adoring public. I’ve had neighbors stop what they’re doing and come out to pat the big guy. He graciously accepts, tail awagging. He is one very phenomenal dog – completely loved and adored!
