Marissa was saved from the shelter in 8/06. She had horrible entropion, staph infection and was overall in horrible shape! She immediately stole the hearts of many and choosing the family for her was a tough decision, but I know we picked the right one!

Her family drove 600+ miles, one way, to meet and adopt her! They were here days after the stitches from her entripion surgery were out. They insisted on taking over treating her other infections as they just couldn’t wait to take her home.

Marissa, who is now Sophie is living the leisurely life of the retired! Every morning she lays in bed with her daddy and helps him read the paper.

Direct from Sophie’s mom:

Sophie is becoming a mature member of our household and of the neighborhood. When I'm asked "what breed is she?", I tell them "she's a pure-bred schmoozer". She will greet anyone on the street who is willing and is completely indiscriminate with her greetings. Not a slobbering or jumping kind of greeting. Just very enthusiastically happy to see everyone. With dogs?

Well, big dogs are swell; however, small dogs seem to be snacks. So she is never off leash on walks. The training at obedience and rally schools was great. Best in the class. The big "however" is that she is allergic to a huge range of pollens and dust and mites and stuff, and will possibly be on medication for life. She is absolutely worth it to us though, as she is a great companion. She fills the space left by her predecessor who was an old soul, and she is a completely new and fresh being on this planet. It's a joy to introduce her to life.
