Karma was a dainty little girl we pulled from the shelter. She'd been picked up as a stray and was very thin! The shelter didn't spay her because she sneezed while in the clinic, so we were to reschedule after she was "well". On Christmas Day, I realized I wasn't just fattening her up, she was pregnant! Trip to the vet on 12/27 for x-rays and ultrasound confirmed she was Very pregnant and at approximately 45 days, too late to spay her. Oh I can't believe how many puppies we saw, and we began preparing to have a rescue litter.

By then, Karma already had a home pending and I had to call her mom to tell her the news. Did she back out? No, she came every single Tuesday like clock work to visit with her girl all the way thru the pregnancy and the raising of the puppies!

On January 13th, Karma gave birth to 13 puppies, every single one of them resembling Labrador Retrievers! 8 boys and 5 girls, some of them so tiny we never expected them to make it, but they did! Karma was a great mommy, and did a wonderful job with her babies, producing more than enough milk for them all too! It was so funny to watch her run around with what appeared to be a swarm of gnats chasing after her when the pups were older!

Karma is now the center of her mom's life and goes every where with her! Karen and I became really good friends in all her visits, and they both come back from time to time for a visit!
