Harrison 's journey through rescue began in Texas when he was surrendered by his owners.  He was transported to Arkansas for fostering.  Due to extensive medical problems it was decided he would be better served by the volunteers in Mount Vernon, Ohio  where he would stay at The Harcourt Veterinary Clinic and receive daily medical care.  Harrison is very grateful to Sherry Boldt for his rides through rescue and since there were a few more Bullmastiffs in Louisiana that needed fostering Sherry and Harrison zipped over and picked them up too!  What's a few thousand miles or so... right Sherry!  When Sherry pulled in that day I was aghast at the poor crippled boy that so valiantly hobbled off of the transport van.  His back was arched in pain and his face said "I am miserable."  After Harrison's medical evaluation it was determined that he had ruptured the cranial cruciate ligaments in both knees, had bilateral luxating patella's, bilateral elbow dysplasia and bilateral entropion.  Harrison had surgery to correct his orthopedic and ophthalmic issues and spent a total of sixteen weeks rehabbing.

Shortly after his second surgery Harrison was taken in by a new foster family.  They were very patient and diligently followed through with all of his rehabilitative care.  Throughout his ordeal Harrison was the best boy ever, always gentle, kind and loving.  In January, 2008 his foster family made it official and gave him a forever home.  He has a Bullmastiff mix sister named Mally and for the first time in a very long time he is pain free.  He goes up and down stairs with ease and loves to cuddle. Harrison has discovered the joy of running, burying his nose in the snow and having a family who loves him. Harrison also enjoys trips to Grandpa's farm, although he is not sure about cows.

I am fortunate that Harrison lives close by and I can visit anytime.  Everyone has the rescue that is extra special to them and Harrison is my boy.  Thank you Nick and Maria for his forever home.
